Initial Breastfeeding
Lactation Assistance
For any concern needing assessment by the lactation consultant to resolve any breastfeeding/lactation/feeding or growth concerns with the baby or breast issues with the mother that need to be assessed in person.
The reasons for appointments that DO warrant an in-person assessment by a lactation consultant would be things like—having trouble latching your baby at the breast, needing guidance with using a breast pump, anatomical challenges with feeding baby such as tongue ties, and weight gain concerns, or to demonstrate supplementation of feeds or helping mother use a breastfeeding tool such as a nipple shield or pump.

Follow-up Appointment
Any subsequent in-home visit by the lactation consultant to follow-up on the issues presented during the first assessment & support session.

Lactation Consultant Phone Appointment
Phone appointments are recommended for any breastfeeding or lactation concern or breast concerns that do NOT need to have an in-person evaluation or assessment. Follow-Up appointments can also be phone appointments, should clients feel confident enough to not require another in-person appointment.
Any prenatal breastfeeding education, questions or advice can be done informally over the phone as well.
